Recent advances in medicine are progressively creating new subdivisions of expertise in medical fields. In reality, however, we see more patients with multiple medical conditions, requiring medical specialists to cooperate with other specialists in order to provide accurate diagnoses and treatments. That is why primary care becomes vital in providing a comprehensive and friendly service for wide variety of symptoms. St Luke’s MediLocus General Internal Medicine department is dedicated to serve you as your primary care physician.
More people today suffer from stress and metabolic disorders such as obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and abnormal glucose metabolism, which all lead to aging arteries and heart diseases.
For active workers as well as those wishing to spend healthier second life, we provide high precision diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and guidance for management and prevention with tips for a better quality of life.
Japan is the global leader in the Endoscopic examination field, in which an endoscope is inserted through the mouth or anus and the inside of the digestive tract is examined and treated. Parts that are examined include the inside of the esophagus, stomach, and the small and large intestines, as well as the bile duct and pancreatic duct. Here at St. Luke’s MediLocus, not only do we offer examinations related to the gastroenterology, we also offer physical examinations, medical checkups and screenings that use the latest equipment and techniques to help detect diseases at an early stage. We also conduct thorough examinations for patients referred to us from other facilities that find irregularities or areas of concern.
Do you have daytime sleepiness / snoring, prolonged cough, or suspected lung cancer?
Visit our Pulmonary Medicine clinic at MediLocus.
Prolonged cough, or “chronic cough,” for some patients may reveal to be not just bronchitis but other hidden diseases such as bronchial asthma, interstitial pneumonia, and COPD.
SAS (Sleep Apnea Syndrome) is estimated to affect more than 4% of men, and could lead to stroke or other serious complications. Our clinic provides specialty outpatient clinic for SAS screening and treatment.
Also, an abnormal shadow in chest x-ray screening needs a thorough follow-up so as not to overlook the presence of lung cancer.
At MediLocus, our pulmonary medicine specialists can show you the first step leading to the diagnosis with same-day exams using CT, MRI, etc. (PET-CT also available). When further exams such as bronchoscopy are necessary, referrals are made to St. Luke’s International Hospital with which we collaborate closely together on your treatment.
The department of neurology specializes in diagnosing and treating disorders in the nervous system, which includes central nerves (brain / spinal cord), peripheral nerves, and muscles. Our clinic treats patients with Parkinson's disease, spinocerebellar degeneration, mild cognitive impairment, multiple sclerosis / neuromyelitis optica, migraine, immune-medicated neuropathy, myasthenia gravis, myositis, muscular dystrophy, and others. Also, we serve not only as a neurology specialty clinic but also as a primary care clinic for various problems related to the nervous system.
On making an appointment, please be aware that the neurology department is different from psychosomatic medicine, psychiatry, and neuropsychiatry departments, which specialize in mood and mental disorders.
We strive to resolve patients’ problems using a comprehensive approach, utilizing a multifaceted view from biological, psychological, and social aspects. In Japan, the number of board-certified psychosomatic physicians is still small yet, there are many patients who go from one clinic to another without getting sufficient evaluation, and live with the regret of “If I didn’t e evaluate patients with psychosomatic diseases and medically unexplained symptoms like this. In addition, where appropriate, we help patients take to the important first step to live with symptoms, when they cannot be overcome.
If you have a skin problem, please visit the dermatology clinic at St. Luke’s MediLocus. One of our skin specialists will be happy to examine you and give recommendations for treatment. We cover the entire gamut of skin-related problems including refractory skin rashes, cutaneous signs of internal diseases, uncomfortable itching, skin cancer checks, and much more. Medications and simple treatments are available at MediLocus; however, if you need further investigation or surgical treatment, we will refer you to St. Luke’s International Hospital.
A growing number of women are now active in the business world. As their lifestyles have diversified in recent years, women’s health care has become increasingly important. St. Luke’s MediLocus Women’s Health offers wide range of services for gynecological conditions except delivery and treatment of breast cancer.
Follow-ups for breast screening tests at other clinics/hospitals are available. Diagnoses are made by a specialist using the combination of the imaging exams (mammography and breast ultrasound) and pathological exams (cytology or needle biopsy) as needed. When further examinations and treatments are necessary, referrals can be made to the Breast Center of St. Luke's International Hospital.
Although the imaging techniques are progressing at high speed with the use of advanced medical equipment such as PET-CT and MRI, the image itself is just an image if not properly assessed. Radiologists who can accurately diagnose the image are crucial to clinical medicine. St. Luke’s MediLocus assures top-quality of diagnostic imaging as we cooperate with and share integrated radiographic interpretation system with St. Luke’s International Hospital which possesses one of the largest number of radiologists in our country.
