Gastroenterology
Endoscopy, namely, direct visual examination of the gastrointestinal tract including the esophagus, stomach, small intestines and colon, etc., the bile duct system and the pancreas, for diagnostic and treatment purposes, is a field of medicine in which Japan is taking leadership in the world.
Here at St. Luke’s MediLocus, not only do we offer examinations related to the gastroenterology, we also offer physical examinations, medical checkups and screenings that use the latest equipment and techniques to help detect diseases at an early stage. We also conduct thorough examinations for patients referred to us from other facilities that find irregularities or areas of concern.

My name is Tetsuo Yamana and I am a board-certified colorectal surgeon. I have a long history working with St. Luke’s patients that began with my residency. My area of expertise is diseases of the colon and rectum. At this institution, I currently treat outpatients, especially those with hemorrhoids, fissures, fistulas, and constipation, but I also have a good deal of experience with fecal incontinence, as I supervised a clinical trial for a specific treatment. I have been researching international procedures for years. I continue to study the latest practices in Asia, the U.S. and Europe. I will work hard to provide you with the most up-to-date, globally standardized care.
